Fall is coming! That means the King mackerel will be here soon. The water temperature is dropping and the cold fronts are starting to move through. This pushes the Kings south for the winter. With lots of bait moving south there is plenty of food for the Kings. Targeting them can be tricky. Your best bet is to find the bait and look for birds and Spanish mackerel feeding. The big Kings will be on the outside of this action. Troll a live bait near the action but not through it. If you get too close you will shut down the feeding. Another option is to find some ledge or hard bottom and anchor up. Put out chum bags and some baits. Baits can be freelined or put under a balloon. This method can take more time but might chum up a big one.
Good luck and tight lines
Capt. Pete
